A silly purchase

I recently bought a coat from a charity shop, for the pure unadulterated reason that it made me happy. It’s bright orange and too big and feels like being hugged by a sleeping bag. For me, these are all pros with the icing on the top being the price - just £10.

I put it on this morning and looked in the mirror. I looked kind of silly. It is probably two sizes too big. I left the house and walked down the road with a running commentary of judgment from others in my head, that went something along the lines of: ‘it's not oversized, it's gigantic’, ‘well, they saw you coming’, and other disparaging self-talk. But feeling so cosy and the colour catching my eye at every turn, I thought, that’s the point! I am knowingly having fun with this! Life doesn’t have to be so serious! And as ever, my thoughts turned to how this would manifest in a home. One which was built on the real tenet of dopamine decor, without the idea of whether it was ‘good design’ or fitted a trend, or worried about resale. So I’ve done a bit of general internet scalp to find some juicy bits for your silly eyeballs on this random Tuesday. Enjoy!
